Lara Z. Moriarty is a partner with the firm with 15+ years of trial experience, a majority of which has been in general liability defense matters, to include insurance defense litigation, personal injury, commercial trucking defense, business litigation and contract disputes. She presently defends commercial truckers in Northern California and handles all sorts of high exposure insurance defense matters of some of the largest insurance companies in the United States. In addition, she has more than a decade of experience in defense of public entities, to include defense of Section 1983 claims, medical malpractice defense and defense of all sorts of general liability and wrongful death claims.
Ms. Moriarty has tried numerous cases in state and federal courts. Prior to her legal career in civil litigation, Ms. Moriarty was an Assistant District Attorney for the Second Judicial District Court, Bernalillo County, New Mexico. At the request of the Chief Metropolitan Judge, Ms. Moriarty helped develop and run a new Traffic Court program. Once the new Traffic Court was operating smoothly, Ms. Moriarty became an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Albuquerque and continued her litigation career defending public entities and law enforcement agencies for several years. Ms. Moriarty then moved to California where upon she continued to defend public entities and law enforcement agencies all over the Central Valley. Her practice grew to include the medical malpractice defense, defense of schools and school districts as well as continuing personal injury defense. She continued her litigation career practicing insurance defense, personal injury defense and commercial trucking defense, to include practicing as in-house counsel for a large national insurance company for several years. She is also highly experienced in Alternative Dispute Resolution efforts, such as mediations, settlement conferences and arbitrations.
Ms. Moriarty attended University of California, Santa Barbara earning a Bachelors of Arts in Law and Society upon graduation in 1995. After a few years working on a management team for a national bank, she attended New England School of Law earning a Juris Doctorate upon graduation in 2000.
Outside of work, Ms. Moriarty enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. She is involved in her children’s sports teams, school projects and community. She also enjoys kickboxing, classic cars and traveling.
