On November 7, 2015, KNCH Law Team “Hummm Babies,” joined approximately 5,000 patients, survivors, and supporters of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at the annual Light The Night Walk at Raley Field in Sacramento. Led by legal assistant, Deseree Rosebrock, KNCH Law Sacramento had, for the six weeks before the event, raised funds to help find a cure for childhood leukemia and lymphoma, and in support of a young boy name Sawyer fighting for his life with a rare and aggressive form of non-Hodgkins lymphoma, called Burkitts lymphoma. Sawyer and his family learned, just the day before Light The Night, that his hopes for a bone marrow transplant were dashed because new spots of the cancer had developed over a very short time.
Light The Night, held annually at Raley Field, home of the Sacramento RiverCats, AAA franchise of the San Francisco Giants, is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's walk to build awareness of blood cancers as well as raise money for research and support of patients and their families. It is held in over 200 communities in North America each fall as well as in Australia.
Deseree was excited about the success, “‘Hum Baby,’ [the San Francisco Giants’ catch phrase from the 1980’s] just seemed so appropriate for a team name like KNCH Law Sacramento, walking for childhood blood cancer patients and victims, at the home of the Giant’s AAA franchise. Everybody at the firm, including several partners at our home office in Irvine, got behind our efforts. The support was heartwarming.”
KNCH Law Team Hummm Babies met the challenge well, finishing 6th out of 232 corporate teams, raising more than $2800.
