Desiree is an Associate at Koeller Nebeker Carlson & Haluck in the Phoenix, Arizona office. She was born in Las Vegas, Nevada as a first generation American to two immigrant parents. Desiree graduated with honors from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a B.A. in Criminal Justice. After college, she graduated from the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law, which she attended as a Robert M. Yegge scholarship recipient and President of the Black Law Student Association. Desiree is licensed in Arizona, Colorado and Texas.
Prior to joining the firm, Desiree was an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) for the Department of Justice, where she prosecuted federal crimes and managed cases from investigation through sentencing. Desiree represented the United States in various hearings including trial. As an AUSA, Desiree successfully prosecuted hundreds of cases, securing convictions across a broad range of federal crimes, to include drug trafficking and immigration offenses.
Additionally, Desiree worked as a Deputy District Attorney at the Denver District Attorney’s Office. In that role, Desiree successfully prosecuted thousands of state level felony offenses, to include murder, attempted murder, robbery, burglary, sexual assault, domestic violence offenses and crimes against the elderly. Desiree also has experience defending indigent clients from her work as a Deputy Public Defender at the Aurora Municipal Courthouse.
Desiree takes great pride in the fact that she’s handled cases across three different levels of government: municipal, state, and federal. Desiree is known for her tenacity, commitment to justice and commitment to her clients. Desiree’s zealous advocacy has earned her a reputation as a “trial dog” amongst those who have had the pleasure of working alongside her.
When Desiree is not at work she enjoys traveling outside of the country and hikes with beautiful scenery (think waterfalls, pine trees, mountains, etc.). Desiree is also obsessed with scents. Her home, office and car typically will have lovely fragrances that draw and capture her guests.
