Meet Michael J. Mellgren

Michael J. Mellgren

Associate

Michael is an associate attorney at Koeller Nebeker Carlson Haluck, LLP’s Irvine office.  His practice areas include general liability defense, including wrongful death and catastrophic injury cases, as well as premises and products liability.  Prior to joining KNCH, he practiced business, real estate, and employment litigation at a distinguished southern California law firm.

He believes that the best approach to litigation defense is not simply confined to robust oral and written advocacy—although essential—but also involves a collaborative working relationship with his clients while maintaining the upmost level of professionalism with opposing counsel.  Michael never loses sight of the fact that a legal “win” should always be viewed through the prism of his client’s individual goals and expectations.

Michael is a graduate of the University of California, Riverside, obtaining his B.A. in 2012.  Thereafter, he worked in operations management for Costco Wholesale Corporation from 2012-2017.

Michael then went back to school where he attended Loyola Law School, Los Angeles graduating in 2020 with a concentration in Civil Litigation and Trial Advocacy.  During his law school tenure, he was a clinical student at Loyola’s Consumer Bankruptcy Clinic where he assisted debtors filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.  Michael thrived academically during law school which resulted receiving the Lloyd Tevis Award in Commercial Law for demonstrating outstanding achievement in the Commercial Law curriculum as well as receiving the top grade in the class in Introduction to Negotiations and Introduction to Legal Skills I.

In his spare time, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, playing tennis, traveling, and reading.
